Pauline Martin, former Head Teacher of the C of E School in South Kilworth contacted Rural Log Cabins in October 2009 after seeing one of our cabins in use at the St.Mary's Montessori Nursery in Lutterworth. This cabin was built back in 2003.

Pauline liked the idea of an alternative solution for a bespoke designed additional classroom space to cater for the school's present and potential future needs.

The design and a price for the cabin were agreed, the order was then confirmed. In December 2009 the planning application was approved and submitted for approval, after a two month delay the planning was approved in April 2010.

On-site work commenced in May 2010 and included:

Clearance of the site, excavation, on-site manufacture and construction of the super-structure, electrics,
plumbing, decking, staining & varnishing, air conditoning, landscaping & alterations to exisiting wrought ironwork,
brickwork planters, sewage connection, alarms, water, IT services, smoke detectors, door access locks, vinyl flooring,
carpeting & roller blinds.

Rural Log Cabins also supplied BRUKL calculations and a building regulations certificate.
The cabin was constructed entirely on-site and throughout the whole process no disruption was caused to the normal operation of the school.

Pauline liked the fact that Rural Log Cabins provided a complete package.

"The project was taken out of my hands so that I could concentrate on running the school. I was amazed by the smooth running of the project; we hardly knew they were even there"

"When I was away for three weeks there were no problems for me to worry about, the project carried on. Right from the beginning ; planning to design to construction & installation, the whole package was professional. Every detail was attended to, right through to the tiny details and finishes."

One of the board of governors commented "This is a wonderful building that fits perfectly into the rural setting and provides a much more functional teaching space than the traditional box cabin solutions."

The classroom was ready for occupation in July 2010, taking just 9 months from planning to completion. Angela Dewes, the current headteacher of the school stated "The log cabin has made an attractive and eco-friendly learning environment for our young children. It compliments our existing Victorian buildings perfectly. The cabin was built completely on-site (whilst the children were at school) efficiently and with the minimum of disruption. It has been much admired by all."

At Rural Log Cabins, we take pride in being able to realise almost any design that our customers can challenge us with.

We design EVERY building as a one-off, crafted to meet our customers requirements, no matter how diverse they are.
